Bad Düben has five signposted terrain therapy trails with seating areas, open to everyone, which pass cultural and historical sites such as the Obermühle mill and the spa gardens.
Nature and Exercise
The accessible Spa Town Trail leads from the area around the Tourist Information Office into the spa district and spa gardens. There you will find a walking school, a barefoot path and terrain therapy trails.
The Waldhof Trail is a circular route that passes through parts of Bad Düben and runs along the Tiglitz Forest towards Authausen. Between the fields, there are nature trails and far-reaching views. The car park on Leipziger Straße near the Mulde bridge is suggested as the starting point.
Bad Düben also offers a family-friendly circular bicycle tour into the Mulde floodplain, including a ferry crossing to Gruna. A regional cycle route connects Bad Düben with Torgau over approximately 45 kilometres and links the Mulde Cycle Route with the Elbe Cycle Route.
Culture
The Dübener Heide Landscape Museum was opened in 1953 in the main building of Düben Castle. The museum presents Bad Düben as a town of agriculture and crafts and addresses its location on the southern edge of the contiguous forest area.
The Bergschiffmühle mill is part of the grounds of Düben Castle. The outdoor grounds can be visited free of charge all year round.
History
The “Lug ins Land” Tower was built around 1206 on older stone foundations and is the oldest surviving building in Düben Castle. The tower contains a dungeon associated with a historic witch trial, as well as the courtroom where a reconciliation hearing with Hans Kohlhase took place in 1534.
The Rote Ufer is a steep embankment up to 15 metres high. It was formed from dumped, leached alum soil that was extracted there from the 16th to the 19th century.
Getting Around
Bad Düben also has a nearby landing stage on the Mulde, located close to the town centre and used for arriving by water.
