Hainichen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture
The Discovery Trail is a circular route for exploring Hainichen’s sights. One of its attractions is the experience of seeing live images projected in the Camera Obscura. Inside, a colourful, moving and upright image appears, displayed in the correct orientation.
The Discovery Trail also leads to the demonstration weaving mill in the Clothmakers’ House. The Clothmakers’ House survived Hainichen’s city fires and, following its restoration, retains its Baroque form. In the demonstration workshop there, traditional crafts that were practised in Hainichen are presented. In 1783, the clothmakers’ guild decided to build a new master craftsman’s house; the first meeting took place there one year later. The heyday of clothmaking in Hainichen began after the clothmakers received a guild charter in 1481.
The history of the Camera Obscura also goes back a long way: it was inaugurated on Rahmenberg on 23 June 1883. Between 1982 and 1985, an 11-metre-high Camera Obscura tower was built. The Camera Obscura has been open to interested visitors since 1985. The church in Hainichen is also the only example of this architectural style in Saxony.
