Culture and History

The Mülsen St. Niclas Local History Museum displays more than 1,000 exhibits reflecting the period around the transition from the 19th to the 20th century. It also depicts family life in a typical house belonging to small craftsmen or workers and presents local connections to mining, crafts and agriculture.
The Härtel House is a half-timbered building dating from 1705 and houses a museum of weaving and local history. The permanent exhibitions cover weaving as well as the life and work of local weavers.
The Uhlig Mill in Thurm preserves fully intact mill machinery, which can be viewed by prior arrangement. A natural food shop is located on the ground floor of the Uhlig Mill in Thurm.
Landscape
A walk through Mülsen St. Jacob can include historic half-timbered houses, former headframes from coal mining, the spoil heap of the Martin Hoop Works IV and the steep, wooded eastern slope of the Mülsengrund valley.
