Culture and History

Callenberg’s St. Catherine’s Church is a Neo-Romanesque church built between 1856 and 1859. It houses an original Kreutzbach organ, which is used for church services and performances by international musicians during the Saxon Organ Academy.

Callenberg’s historical identity is connected with the former manor in the village. According to traditional accounts, the ladder used in the abduction of the Altenburg princes in 1455 was made in its barn.
