Brandis: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Brandis combines historic sites with trails through quarry landscapes and attractions in the surrounding area. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Brandis can then continue searching for accommodation.
Trails and Landscape
The 1.9-kilometre Kirchbruch Route leads around the Kirchbruch quarry in Beucha. Information boards along the route explain Beucha granite and quartz porphyry, the local socioeconomic importance of quarrying, and the history of Beucha Mountain Church.
Another connection is provided by the Beucha–Wurzen hiking trail: it runs through Brandis Forest and Planitz Forest, passes quarries and historic sites, and includes a ferry crossing between Schmölen and Dehnitz. Near Brandis, Lake Albrechtshain offers opportunities for swimming and recreation; it has a small sandy beach and surrounding lawns. A high-ropes course is located on the lake’s southwest shore.
Cycle Paths
The 56-kilometre Parthe–Mulde Cycle Route between Leipzig and Grimma runs through Beucha. It connects the Elster Cycle Route with the Mulde Valley Cycle Route and provides links for circular tours.
History
Brandis Town Church was first documented in 1121 and preserves masonry from its oldest Romanesque construction phase. Its furnishings include a sacrament house made of Rochlitz porphyry and a porphyry baptismal font. The church also has a historic Donat organ, completed in 1705, which is also used for concerts.
Brandis Castle and its garden were built between 1700 and 1727 based on designs by David Schatz. The Brandiser Meile, a walking route with more than 170 commemorative stones, offers a local perspective on sights, people, and stories. At Bulldoghof Remler, a museum displays tractors, two-wheeled vehicles, agricultural equipment, household items, stationary engines, and sewing machines.
Activities
