Geographical Setting

The municipality is part of the Lusatian Gefilde and has hilly terrain along the Czorneboh range. In the south, Kubschütz extends from the 556-meter-high Czorneboh to the Kreckwitz Heights in the north, which reach 195 meters.

The Koboldsteig begins at the playground in Rachlau and climbs toward the summit of the Czorneboh. The route passes the Teufelsbecken and continues to the Hromadnik, also known as Döhlener Berg, with its rock formations, before returning to Rachlau via the Schönberg Pass.

The Koboldsteig is an 8-kilometer circular route marked with the Kobold logo. It is classified as moderate to difficult, has an ascent of 260 meters, and takes approximately four hours. Parking and additional access points are available in Rachlau, at the Czorneboh, and at the Schönberg Pass.

The observation tower associated with the Czorneboh mountain inn is described as the oldest observation tower in Upper Lusatia.

Culture

Local attractions in Kubschütz include the Purschwitz Church, the Blücher Monument in the Kreckwitz Heights, the Monarch Hill in Jenkwitz, and the crocus meadow in Kreckwitz, which is located in Kreckwitz Castle Park.

The organ in Purschwitz Church has the only Zimbelstern in its parish; the visible bell mechanism is operational. In addition, a themed bench dedicated to the Mittagsfrau, called the Scipata-Maratha bench, stands in the village square in Kubschütz and is associated with a local Sorbian legend.

The second stage of the Ecumenical Pilgrimage Route passes through Kubschütz, Baschütz, and Jenkwitz and reaches Bautzen after 25.6 kilometers.

Getting There

Kubschütz has a railway stop and access to Litten/Bautzen regional airfield. The municipality is also described as having nearby access to the A4 motorway and a connection to Federal Highway 6.
