Schlettau: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Schlettau is home to Schlettau Castle, a listed castle complex dating from the 14th century with a manor house, farm buildings, a landscaped park, and architectural elements from the Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Gothic Revival periods.

Culture

Schlettau Castle houses a permanent exhibition on the history of the castle, the “Ore Mountains Landscape Art” gallery, a center for the history of forests and wildlife, and a demonstration workshop for passementerie. Readings, theater performances, and concerts take place in the Knights’ Hall.

Near Schlettau Castle, the “Glück auf” Woodcarving Center presents traditional woodcarving and bobbin lace-making, including mechanical Christmas mountains, historic pyramids, and carvings by its members. The Gothic St. Ulrich Church is associated with the feature locally known as the “Church Face.”

Near Schlettau are Annaberg-Buchholz, former Franciscan monastery; Scheibenberg; and Schafberg. Richterberg and Butterfladen are located in the surrounding area of Schlettau.

Hiking

The approximately 15.53-kilometer circular hike “Around Schlettau” starts and ends at Schlettau Castle. It follows the Zschopau Valley Trail, a forest route toward Scheibenberg, a basalt nature trail, and the Ottomar-Zahm Trail, offering views of the Ore Mountains.
