Hüttstattmühle southwest of Ansprung was founded as a glassworks, later used as a grain mill, and converted into a youth hostel in 1917. A local craft tradition is the processing of serpentine stone: the soft stone was made into vessels, and the craft of turning serpentine stone developed in the area by the late 16th century.
