Dresden: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dresden’s historic centre lies on the left bank of the Elbe in a bend of the river. Buildings from the Renaissance, Baroque and 19th century shape Dresden’s riverfront.

Culture

The Dresden Zwinger is an important late Baroque complex and a landmark of the city. It was built from 1710 to 1728 as an orangery and venue for court festivities. Brühl’s Terrace was opened to the public in 1814 and is known as the “Balcony of Europe”.

The Frauenkirche is an attraction open to visitors in Dresden’s old town at Neumarkt. Admission is free during the Open Church periods; the church also offers a ticket for climbing to the dome. The Dresden Highlights Route includes the Frauenkirche, the Semperoper and the Zwinger. The Semperoper offers themed tours covering architecture, Dresden’s musical history, anecdotes and scandals surrounding the opera house.

The Fürstenzug is the world’s largest porcelain mural and consists of more than 23,000 Meissen porcelain tiles. Dresden Residential Palace houses collections such as the Green Vault, the Turkish Chamber and the Giant’s Hall.

The Deutsches Hygiene-Museum combines the interactive exhibition “Adventures of the Human Being” with the children’s museum “World of Senses”.

Experiences

The experience at Dresden Fortress uses 360-degree projections and audio on historic fortress walls. The park railway travels a route several kilometres long through the Großer Garten.

Getting Around
