Zahna-Elster: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Zahna-Elster can continue their search for accommodation afterwards. The Zahna Agricultural Museum includes an original apartment from 1920 in a four-sided farmstead whose residential building dates back to 1730. The museum also displays a collection of tractors, harvesting machinery, a preserved forge and agricultural equipment from past centuries. The exhibition on grain technology traces the development from the sickle and flail to the combine harvester. The Agricultural Museum also provides access to a 600-year-old Flemish farmhouse covering an area of 1,800 m².

Culture

The Local History, Carnival and Boatmen’s Museum in Elster is divided into three thematic areas. Exhibits cover shipping, the Elbe ferry, carnival, domestic life and the Elbe community, complemented by a local chronicle. Zahna Evangelical Church hosts concerts. Elster Evangelical Church was founded in 1867 and inaugurated in 1871. Zahna’s St. Mary’s Church is a Romanesque cruciform church and is considered a rarely preserved example of this type. Leetza is home to a fieldstone church whose origins date back to around 1200.

Cycle Paths

In the Elster locality of Zahna-Elster, the Elbe Cycle Route runs directly along the Elbe. The Elster ferry connects the sections of the Elbe Cycle Route on the left and right banks between Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Torgau. The Berlin–Leipzig Cycle Route also passes through Zahna, crossing the Fläming region. It is approximately 250 kilometres long in total and uses designated cycle paths, footpaths, low-traffic roads, field paths and forest trails.

By the Water

Visitors can stroll along the landscaped Elbe promenade in Elster. Near Elster, a cable ferry crosses the Elbe.

Landscape

Since 1993, the Bülzig Sculpture Park has featured sculptures with angel motifs made of wood, metal and other materials. The park is an approximately 20-hectare meadow with the Bülziger Graben stream and small areas of woodland. The sculptures are integrated into the landscape and invite visitors to look, touch and reflect.
