Rochau is characterised by its monumental late Romanesque village church made of fieldstone, which was built around 1205 and is interpreted as a former fortified or refuge church. Its unusual octagonal bell storey features round-arched sound openings.

Rochau village church contains a finely crafted pulpit from 1674 by Caspar Hoppenstedt of Arendsee, as well as wood carvings on the chancel wall depicting Mary, Saint Barbara and Saint Anthony of Padua, which are dated to around 1420.
