Hecklingen is situated on the R1 European Cycle Route in the foothills of the Harz Mountains, on the edge of the Magdeburg Börde. A route from the Hecklingen railway crossing follows the former Roßbahn embankment through the Bruchwiesen and reaches the R1 at the Bodewehr Am Schütz.
