Zerben: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zerben Castle is a memorial and cultural heritage site in Zerben’s Elbe floodplain and park landscape. It is the birthplace of Elisabeth von Ardenne, the historical figure associated with Theodor Fontane’s Effi Briest.

Culture

Zerben’s historic lock infrastructure includes an old towpath lock. It was built from 1934 to 1938 to connect the Ihle Canal and the Plauer Canal and create a shorter route towards Berlin. The park adjoining Zerben Castle offers seating for visitors to linger and serves as an event venue.

Nature

Zerben is located near the Elbe in a landscape shaped by forests and water. The Elbe-Havel Canal and its locks lie east of the village. The old Elbe dikes feature viewpoints from which the meandering course of the river can be observed.

Two former gravel mining lakes are used for swimming trips and attract both local and visiting bathers.

The area surrounding Zerben includes Alte Burg, Lerchenberg, Koppenberg, Gladauer Berg and Kellerberg.
