Culture and History
Bucherbach Castle was built by the Counts of Saarbrücken to secure their rule in the central Köllertal and manage their local properties. Following extensive restoration in 1982/84 and 2011, it became a venue in central Köllerbach for festivals and other events.
The historic ensemble of Püttlingen railway station was restored in accordance with heritage conservation requirements and converted into a cultural centre. Püttlingen railway station regularly hosts changing exhibitions by artists from the Köllertal region.
Püttlingen’s small palace is a late Baroque hunting lodge built around 1790 on the grounds of the old Püttlingen Castle. Today, together with the Witches’ Tower, marked castle remnants and the town hall, it forms part of the architectural setting of the central town park.
The Witches’ Tower is a surviving later prison tower that stood outside Püttlingen’s medieval castle complex. Its underground cell is associated with the imprisonment and execution of 14 women accused of witchcraft between around 1580 and 1600.
The Saarland Clock Museum traces the development of timekeeping from antiquity to the present day. St Martin’s Parish Church in Köllerbach is one of the oldest ecclesiastical buildings in Saarland. The Heilig Kreuz Monastery is described as Germany’s only Redemptorist convent and was built near the Chapel of the Holy Cross between 1956 and 1960.

The Literature Trail combines experiencing Püttlingen’s literature with walking outdoors and the opportunity to get to know Püttlingen and Köllerbach. At locations in Püttlingen and Köllerbach, it presents texts by four writers behind glass panels.
A walking and cycling path runs along the Köllerbach. The spoil heap of the former Viktoria mine offers a wide panorama across the region as far as neighbouring Lorraine.
