Everswinkel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The unusual Historic Quadrilateral is located in the center of Everswinkel: its streets form an irregular quadrilateral shaped by the church, the houses around the church square, and two old highways.

Culture

A walk through the center of Everswinkel passes historic rows of houses, monuments, and modern art. At St. Magnus Church, the Romanesque tower is preserved from the original church dating from the first half of the 13th century. The Gothic nave was begun on February 28, 1489, and completed in 1522; two animal-like sculptures unique in the region stand on the south side.

The parish church of St. Agatha already existed before 1203 and is dedicated to Saint Agatha, who is regarded here as the patron saint against fire. Its tower retains its Romanesque form from the time of its foundation and its fortified character.

Near the village, wayside shrines and crosses continue to serve as blessing altars during the annual processions. Everswinkel's oldest wayside shrine dates from 1699 and stands at Hof Averberg.

Haus Brückhausen was first mentioned in documents in 1361. The Renaissance building is described as the only aristocratic residence in Everswinkel and Alverskirchen that has preserved its character over the centuries.

At Up'n Hoff, visitors can experience and take part in traditional agricultural methods such as threshing grain and making linen. Visitor groups can sow, thresh, churn butter, roast rye coffee, bake bread, process flax, and dye finished linen there. Guided tours at Up'n Hoff include the permanent exhibition, the granary, and the bakery.

The La Croisette sculpture is based on the Münster sculptor Stefan Rosendahl's own biometric body measurements and abstracts the human figure into objects such as knees, noses, and heads.

Nature

In Alverskirchen, the Dorffeld nature reserve can be explored on foot or by bicycle via numerous small paths and farm tracks through the Münsterland park landscape.

The Kettelerhorst Forest Area nature reserve on the southeastern edge of Everswinkel is home to a grey heron colony. On the eastern edge of Everswinkel, the Mussenbachaue nature reserve protects a lowland stream and naturally moist woodland along its banks.

In Alverskirchen, the Angelniederung nature reserve west of the K 33 contains a renaturalized section of the Angel River and the adjacent floodplain.

Cycling

The Warendorf district cycling region has around 900 kilometers of signposted cycle paths with a junction system and offers nine themed routes.

Leisure

Everswinkel is associated with the all-weather leisure pool Vitus-Bad and the 18-hole Brückhausen golf course.
