Hiking and Cycling

The Landscheider Weg is an easy 7.8-kilometre circular trail through forests, along streams and across fields. Along the way, it passes three historic mills. Three Nordic walking routes also start at the Bellinghausen hiking car park and circle the Eifgenbach valley. They are designated for beginners, intermediate walkers and experts. Burscheid provides three hiking car parks: the largest is in Bellinghausen, while the others are located on Hammerweg and on the road Im Hagen.

The E2 and E3 hiking trails also run through Burscheid. For cyclists, the approximately 51-kilometre Panorama Cycle Route Balkantrasse follows the converted railway line; the converted Burscheid railway station is included as a possible stopping point.

Nature

The Eifgenbach and Side Valleys Nature Reserve covers 111.04 hectares in Burscheid. It protects a largely natural stream valley system with side valleys, grassland and near-natural deciduous woodland. The Herkensiefen Nature Reserve lies in a small side valley with beech-rich woodland. Several bus stops are located along the L359 and Hilgener Straße near this nature reserve.

Culture and History

Lambertsmühle is a historic mill complex in Burscheid protected as a listed monument; the property has been under monument protection since 1983. The complex includes a water wheel, milling equipment, a stone oven, a functioning forge, workshops, a weaver's room, a cellar, a kitchen garden and historic agricultural equipment. Lambertsmühle is also a local history museum represented by the Verein zur Förderung der Lambertsmühle e. V.

The Eifgenburg ring wall was probably built in the 10th or 11th century and is registered as an archaeological monument.

Events

Burscheid maintains an events calendar providing an overview of the annual event highlights. Its cultural offerings include theatre, exhibitions, readings and musical performances.
