Geographical Location

Much is a municipality in the Rhein-Sieg district in the south of North Rhine-Westphalia and in the southern Bergisches Land, with 114 villages. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Much can then continue searching for accommodation.

The Wahnbach flows through Much’s green, gently undulating Bergisches Land landscape; at the eastern edge, the Gibbinghauser Bach flows into it. The Naafbach and the Bröl follow parts of the municipality’s boundaries.

In the surrounding area of Much, there is a disused quarry in the Bröl valley above the B 478. Rafelsberg, Dönselberg and Schimmelhau are also located in the surrounding area. In the wider regional vicinity of Much are Blankenberg Castle, Rötten Castle, the Morsbach observation tower and St. Michael’s Abbey.

Nature and Activities

The Bergischer Weg long-distance hiking trail crosses Much in two stages; there are also many other hiking trails through the Bergisches landscape. Much also offers a variety of cycling tours through its surrounding countryside.

Golfclub Burg Overbach has an 18-hole course in a gently undulating landscape. Much also has an outdoor swimming pool in a wooded setting.

Culture and Tradition

Much has a strongly Catholic character. This includes the churches of St. Martinus in Much, St. Mariä Himmelfahrt in Marienfeld and St. Johann Baptist in Kreuzkapelle; there are also Protestant and New Apostolic churches.

Every year at the beginning of July, a pilgrimage to Werl takes place for the Feast of the Visitation, during which several hundred people from Much walk the route. Much also has a technology and farming museum.
