The Recklinghausen Icon Museum is the world’s most significant museum of Eastern Christian art outside Orthodox countries. The icon collection contains works dating from the 13th century to the beginning of the 20th century.

The Recklinghausen Kunsthalle presents changing exhibitions of contemporary art in a former high-rise air-raid shelter.
