Geographical Location

For cycling, Borchen has a regional and interregional network of cycle paths, including the Alme Cycle Route, the Altenau Cycle Route and the Paderborner Land Route. An archaeological and historical hiking route connects the natural surroundings of the Paderborn Plateau with evidence of Borchen’s history from the Neolithic period to the 13th century.
Culture and History
Borchen’s cultural heritage includes the Church of St Michael in Kirchborchen, built around 1200, the Church of St Walburga in Alfen and the old Church of St Meinolf in Dörenhagen. They are described as witnesses to High Medieval culture. The Mallinckrodthof in Nordborchen is a 17th-century building known for its distinctive architecture in the region.
