Culture and Trails
Oberveischede has a well-developed local network of hiking and cycling routes. The Marienkapelle is described as the village’s landmark; it is located on the Rennenberg and is associated with a local wartime vow. Construction began in 1946, and an annual candlelight ceremony in October is still held to commemorate the vow and the construction of the chapel.
Hiking and Nature
The Veischeder Sonnenpfad is a long-distance hiking trail through the forests surrounding Oberveischede. The route can be divided into two stages, with overnight stays and opportunities to stop for refreshments.
The Waldvogelweg is a signposted themed hiking trail that begins at the church and runs above and around Oberveischede. It includes a hiking car park and information boards about the habitats of forest birds and forest ecology.
