Willebadessen lies on the Nethe at the foot of the Egge Hills and is a state-recognised climatic health resort. The small, village-like town has 13 districts and is associated with a historic Benedictine convent complex and a historic parish church.

The Alte Eisenbahn gorge lies in the forests between Willebadessen and Lichtenau and features steep cliffs and dark pools. The protected area is associated with an abandoned building ruin dating from 1847/48.
Culture and history
The Karlsschanze is an old Saxon fortification on the Egge ridge; remains of a historic image of Christ have been preserved. The Gertrudskammer is a mysterious prehistoric site that, according to legend, is connected with Saxon veneration of the Drude.
