With the Orke Water Trail, Medelon has an easy, 9.5 km circular route with a thematic focus. The start and finish are at the hiking portal in the centre of Medelon. The route follows the stream through meadows and floodplains and passes a geological outcrop. The 13 QR code stations cover habitats, animals, plants, the historical use of water and nature conservation measures.

There are parking spaces in the centre of Medelon for the Orke Trail; an alternative access point is located at the Orketal hikers’ car park. Bus route 361 connects Medebach, Medelon and Hallenberg.

At a wooden bridge, the Orke Trail can be shortened to approximately 4 km for younger children. There is also a playground in the town centre. The route is not suitable for pushchairs.

Surroundings

Winterkasten is located near Medelon, as is Hilmesberg. Reckenberg lies in the surrounding area of Medelon; Großer Bromberg and Henkmannskopf are also located there.

The former Wolkersdorf Castle, Waldeck and Aulesburg are located in the wider regional surroundings of Medelon.
