Kall: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The area around Kall preserves numerous traces of the region’s historic iron industry. Former pairs of mine entrances are preserved as depressions in the terrain and are known as mining pits.

Culture

One of the cultural attractions in Kall is Steinfeld Abbey. The Romanesque basilica reflects significant periods of construction. Steinfeld Abbey is also a pilgrimage site associated with the König organ and the remains of Hermann-Josef von Steinfeld. More than 1,000 exhibits are displayed in the treasury; late Gothic vault paintings by Hubert von Aachen and an elaborate Baroque interior have also been preserved.

Kall is designated as a starting point for hikes and cycling tours in the North Eifel. Cycle routes connected with Kall include the Eifel Heights Route, the EifelRadSchleifen and the route through the Urft Valley. Hiking opportunities connected with Kall include Eifel National Park, the Eifelsteig and the Roman Canal Hiking Trail. The hiking options in Kall also include the EifelSpur Pingenwanderweg and the EifelSchleife Milchweg.

The EifelSpur Heideheimat is a 10-kilometre hike through heathland and Steinfeld Abbey in the municipality of Kall. The EifelSchleife Milchweg is a 6.8-kilometre circular hike that begins at Steinfeld Abbey in Kall, is suitable for children with an all-terrain pushchair and can be completed with children using such a pushchair.

Nature

Krekeler Heide is home to rare plants, including the green-winged orchid, woodland cranesbill, spotted orchid and green wood orchid. Along the EifelSchleife Milchweg, eight information panels explain milk production, dairy products, and agricultural environmental and species protection.

Getting There

Kall is located on the Cologne–Trier railway line. The town can be reached by train from Cologne, Trier and Bonn. Tourist services such as the Eifelsteig hiking bus and the National Park Shuttle depart from Kall bus station.
