Roetgen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Green forests on the northern edge of the High Fens and the Eifel landscape characterize Roetgen. The town is located in western Germany directly on the border with Belgium, near Aachen, and comprises the villages of Roetgen, Rott and Mulartshütte. Officially, Roetgen bears the title “Gateway to the Eifel” (“Gateway to the Eifel”), which was adopted in 2012.
Nature
The surrounding area of Roetgen includes Stelingberg, Wofelsberg and Peterberg. In the wider regional area lies Raths Berg. Also in the wider area, the Hohes Venn-Eifel Nature Park is characterized by raised bogs, rivers, lakes, reservoirs and wooded hills.
Hiking and Cycling
Roetgen has the 8.3-kilometre themed hiking trail Weberweg. It combines the town’s textile history with nature on the edge of the High Fens and reflects Roetgen’s local textile history. Roetgen also provides a starting point for hikes and cycling tours towards the raised bog areas of the High Fens, the Eifel reservoirs and historic neighboring towns, including Aachen, Kornelimünster, Monschau and Stolberg.
Culture and History
Roetgen preserves the Marienkapelle, parts of which remain from the first church built between 1636 and 1660, as well as the Evangelical Church of Roetgen, built between 1779 and 1782, as historic religious landmarks.
The Foundation Scheibler Museum Rotes Haus Monschau is located in the surrounding area of Roetgen. In the wider regional area are Vogelsang Castle, Vaalsbroek and the Preach Tower.
