Culture and History

Brand is home to St. Donatus Parish Church, locally known as the “Brander Dom”. It was rebuilt between 1880 and 1883. Visitors can see a 55-metre-high, three-aisled hall church with ecclesiastical treasures, including a Wendelinus reliquary from 1897 and colourful choir windows dating from 1952/54.

The Venn Railway Bridge viaduct in the Rollefbach Valley dates from 1884. A long-distance cycle route on the former railway line between Aachen and Luxembourg crosses the viaduct. Along the way, there are views across the valley.

The Brander Bull is a bronze sculpture erected on Brander Market Square in 1976 and a local symbol expressing the civic identity of Brand.

Theatre Brand is a community theatre with its own venue. It presents comedies, cabaret, crime plays, musicals, improvisation and performance pieces. There are also regular children’s and youth theatre groups.

The chapel in Niederforstbach dates from 1756, contains a Wendelinus altar from 1863, stands on the old pilgrimage route to Kornelimünster and is maintained by local residents.
