Zinnowitz between the Baltic Sea, promenade and theatre

A Baltic Sea beach, a long pier and a varied cultural scene define Zinnowitz. The fine, white sandy beach is up to 40 metres wide and is patrolled by lifeguards in summer. The Vineta Pier extends 315 metres into the Baltic Sea. It also serves as a landing stage for passenger ships, which travel, among other destinations, to Poland, Rügen Island and the Kaiserbäder resorts. The beach and pier give Zinnowitz a strong connection to the sea, while the promenade adds resort architecture, green spaces and art.

Along the beach promenade, you can admire numerous buildings in the resort architecture style and discover them as photo opportunities. The promenade also passes through the “Garden of the Senses,” with colourful parks, wooden sculptures and resort architecture. Along the way, landscaped green spaces meet distinctive buildings. If you enjoy noticing different forms and motifs during a stroll, you will find a range of impressions along the promenade.

Nature garden and sculpture trail

The nature garden along the beach promenade has its own distinctive features: it includes information stations, a lizard habitat, a barefoot path and a bed of wild perennials. The individual features appeal to different interests, from nature observation and information to experiencing the path firsthand. This can be a welcome change for families who would like to include a variety of discoveries on their outings together.

The wooden sculptures also shape the character of this coastal town. Works carved from solid oak trunks stand along the beach promenade and in the adjacent wooden sculpture park. The sculpture trail runs eastwards from the concert shell along the promenade to Zinnowitzer Hof. The open-air gallery of wooden sculptures is accessible to everyone around the clock. This makes it possible to discover art in public spaces independently of a theatre visit.

Theatre and local history

In the centre of Zinnowitz, the yellow theatre “Die Blechbüchse” offers drama, music, readings and cabaret all year round. Its programme therefore includes a range of stage and event formats. If you would like to spend time away from the beach during your holiday, you can make a theatre or cultural evening a focus of your stay.

The Vineta Festival is a special summer theatre experience. It takes place outdoors in Zinnowitz every summer and offers a new theatrical adventure each year. Its recurring setting and annually changing story set it apart from the year-round programme at “Die Blechbüchse.” The Protestant church adds another historic feature: it was inaugurated in 1895 as a Neo-Gothic brick building.

Experience the sea and plan your journey

At the pier, the diving gondola offers a close-up look at the animal and plant life on the seabed. The approximately 40-minute ride includes an introduction to the ecology and local characteristics of the Baltic Sea, as well as 3D nature films. It combines information about marine life with a view beneath the water’s surface; its approximate duration can be taken into account when planning your day.

For travel by train, take the route via Züssow and change to the Usedom Bäderbahn. It travels via Wolgast directly to Zinnowitz. During the main season, it runs every 30 minutes; in the low season, it runs hourly. The different service frequencies are a practical consideration when planning your journey at different times of year.
