History

Sauzin was first documented on 12 August 1230 under the name “Zobesino”. Historically, Sauzin was an outlying estate of Wolgast; its village structure comprised a contiguous settlement with several farmsteads located outside it.

Sauzin is located in the northwest of the island of Usedom between the Krumminer Wiek and the Peene River. The Achterwasser lies south of the village; Sauzin belongs to the Usedom Island Nature Park.
