History in Malk

The district of Malk was first mentioned in 1156 and is one of the oldest places in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district. Another historical landmark stands on the main road through Malk Göhren: a war memorial to those who fell in the First World War. It was dedicated by the municipality of Malk. The early mention and the memorial represent different historical connections—the district’s long history and remembrance of those who fell in a specific war.

Water and boating options in Neu Göhren

The Elde-Müritz Waterway runs through Neu Göhren; a bridge connects the two districts. At the Neu Göhren Camping boat landing, moorings for all types of boats are available at kilometre 11.3 of the Müritz-Elde Waterway, between the Malliß lock and Eldena. Low jetties in a branch of the Elde are available for canoes and small boats. There are also 12 moorings for vessels up to 16 metres long. Electricity and water supplies, as well as a mobile fuel station, are among the facilities at the boat landing, along with a car park and a slipway. A boat landing with an adjoining restaurant and a campsite are located right by the bridge in Neu Göhren. The campsite has 100 pitches for long-term and short-term camping. The campsite is on the Lüneburg–Usedom cycle route. Neu Göhren therefore offers a connection to cycling as well as to the waterway. The restaurant serves regional homemade dishes on its terrace; day and weekly fishing permits are also available at the boat landing.
