Culture and History

The fortress complex of Spantekow was built between 1558 and 1567 as a Renaissance palace and fortress. A Baroque tower and two-storey side wings were added later; remains of an earlier defensive tower have also been preserved in the northern part of the complex.

Spantekow is home to a listed brick church from the 15th century with a later half-timbered west tower, Baroque-style windows and additions from the 19th century.

Spantekow was first mentioned in 1275 and documented again in 1321.
