Rural Paths and Neukloster Lake

Lübberstorf lies in an appealing landscape shaped by the Ice Age. Those wishing to explore the area on foot can choose from several walks: paths from Lübberstorf lead to Neumühle, Pennewitt, Glambeck and Warin. Another walking route goes via Lüdersdorf to Neu Käterhagen and Groß Tessin. These destinations offer a variety of reasons to spend time outdoors, although the paths do not all form a single route.

The circular path around Neukloster Lake also has a special connection to Lübberstorf: it passes the village’s former bathing area. From there, you can enjoy a view of the lake. With a little luck, you may spot ducks, coots and great crested grebes, as well as fish eagles or white-tailed eagles.

Neumühle and the History of the Mill

Neumühle is a district of Lübberstorf, located at the southern end of Neukloster Lake. In the Middle Ages, the village was the site of a monastery mill. The later watermill no longer exists: a dilapidated mill was demolished in 2006. A fish pass was built in the stream bed at the site of the weir; there is also a small rest area nearby.

Historic Buildings and a Manor House in the Village

In the village of Lübberstorf, the Alte Gutshof (Old Manor) occupies the site of a former agricultural estate, with a large garden surrounding the property. The old main house was built in 1894 and extensively renovated from 2011 to 2013. Two farmhouses on Dorfstraße, at house numbers 16 and 17, are each listed as historic monuments. Alongside the landscape and hiking trails, the village therefore has specific historic buildings that offer visitors interested in culture another perspective on Lübberstorf.

A 25-kilometre cycling tour runs nearby between Neukloster, Pennewitt and Warin in the direction of Lübberstorf. However, it does not go all the way into the village: before Lübberstorf, it turns onto a field track in the direction of Neu Pennewitt. The route runs over asphalt and sand and has only gentle inclines. If you are considering including a cycling tour in your holiday plans, you can take this information into account and note that Lübberstorf is not on the route described.
