Lake Eixen is located within the municipality of Eixen. A 10-metre-high observation tower offers idyllic views across the lake. Birdwatching and nature watching are also possible by the lake. The area around Lake Eixen has a bathing beach, as well as a volleyball court and a bathing and fishing pier. Village Church and Art from Several Centuries

The village church in Eixen is a fieldstone building dating from the mid-13th century. Brick gables and brick window surrounds complement the fieldstone structure and add distinctive details to its exterior. Historic details inside the church also reach far back: parts of the painted decoration date from the 13th century and were uncovered again during restoration.

The winged altar is a particularly complex work. Its front features figures of saints, the Coronation of the Virgin and Saint George; the reverse has panel paintings. The altar was probably carved in Lübeck around 1530.

Another trace of craftsmanship leads to the 18th century. The pulpit of St. George’s Church in Eixen was made in 1744 in the workshop of Stralsund woodcarver Michel Müller. Together with the medieval church building, the painted decoration and the altar dating from around 1530, it shows that the church brings together works from different periods.
