History
Hoort was first documented in 1227; from 1227 to 1550, the village belonged to the Kraak Commandery of the Order of St. John.

Hoort lies approximately 14 kilometres south of Schwerin and within the Schwerin–Hagenow–Ludwigslust railway triangle.
