Geographical location

Nienhagen is a Baltic Sea resort on the coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania between Warnemünde and Kühlungsborn and is situated on the coastal cliff.

Rostock is described as not far from Nienhagen, while Bad Doberan is described as being close to Nienhagen.

Nature

Below the coastal cliff lies a sandy beach.

The beach can be reached from the town without taking a car; access is via stairs or a longer barrier-free ramp.

The Ghost Forest and Nienhagen Beach offer a walking backdrop along the cliff and the Baltic Sea; from the car park at the beach, the forest is about a ten-minute walk away.

As a coastal deciduous forest, the Ghost Forest consists mainly of beech trees and some oaks and is shaped by storms and sea air near the edge of Nienhagen’s cliff.
