For a longer activity on the water, the wider Oldenburg destination offers a 40-kilometer canoe route on the Hunte from Wildeshausen to Oldenburg. It has eleven launch and landing points, ten rest areas and eleven interpretive trail panels. The river route runs through the Wildeshausen Geest and past sandbanks, steep riverbanks and forests. Its length and facilities make it easy to distinguish this trip from a walk at the Pestrup Burial Ground.

A different option is the Lethe Nature Trail: this circular route is about three kilometers long and passes through the Wardenburg Lethe lowlands. It starts at Wardenburg Watermill by the bridge over the Lethe, west of the center of Wardenburg, in the Lethe nature reserve.
