Culture
St. John’s Church was initially built between 1130 and 1135 by Emperor Lothair as a basilica with a flat roof. Extensive renovation took place from 1966 to 1975. Since 1993, the church has been part of the “Routes into the Romanesque” tourism program.
Nature
The Schunter flows through Süpplingenburg and forms a scenic floodplain. The Elm offers extensive walks and hikes all year round; guided hikes are also possible during the holiday months.
The Elm-Lappwald Nature Park covers an area of approximately 470 square kilometers and includes forests, springs, ponds, heathlands, and salt meadows.
