The Lochbach Gorge is a gorge up to 15 metres deep with 21 bridges and footbridges, and a natural spectacle that can be explored at any time of year in the Knüll Nature Park.

Nature

Hülsa lies on a plateau at the foot of the Knüll Mountains and borders the Oberes Rinnetal protected landscape area. The Hülsaer Köpfchen reaches 522 metres.

Hiking

The approximately 8.5-kilometre-long Lochbach Trail is a circular hiking trail through the Lochbach Gorge. It leads over meadow paths, past wild orchids and to views towards the Knüll Mountains and Kellerwald; the trail can be accessed from Homberg-Hülsa. Its 1.3-kilometre-long gorge section includes bridges, footbridges, benches and picnic facilities.

Culture

The Protestant church in Hülsa was built in 1728 and serves as a religious centre for neighbouring villages. The Knüll song “Mein Dörflein am Knüll”, which Pastor Samuel Raith composed during his time in Hülsa, is associated with the village.

The traditional Hülsa Christmas market is also part of the local annual cycle. It takes place every year in front of the church on the first weekend of Advent; the locally named hot drink “Trompetentraum” is served there.
