Market Square and Culture
You can reach the historic market square through the Salzburger Tor gate in the southeast or the Münchner Tor gate in the northwest. The rows of houses around the square are decorated with colorful Lüftlmalerei.
The Kulturhaus im Markt houses both the Museum im Kulturhaus im Markt and the Galerie am Markt. The museum features a fossil exhibition as well as exhibitions on shipping on the River Inn, the Neubeuern choral society under Enoch zu Guttenberg, Neubeuern Castle and the V.T.E.V. “Edelweiß” Neubeuern. The themes range from natural history, shipping and music to the castle and club life. The Galerie am Markt regularly shows contemporary art by artists living in Neubeuern and guest artists. Time by the Lake and Outdoor Activities
Lake Neubeuern offers a different kind of vacation day: the lake is ideal for families to bathe and swim, and there is also a large sunbathing lawn. There are two beach volleyball courts, one for children and one for adults.
A circular hiking route around Neubeuern Castle takes about two hours and leads, among other places, to the remains of Althaus Castle. Another hiking route is the Neubeuern Schiffleutwanderweg; the Wolfsschlucht gorge is one of its stops. The two routes can be considered separately: the circular walk includes Neubeuern Castle and the remains of Althaus Castle, while the Schiffleutwanderweg includes the Wolfsschlucht gorge.
Cyclists also have a specific option: the Inn Cycle Path passes by Neubeuern. If you are planning a trip involving cycling, hiking or a visit to the lake, you can consider these different activities when choosing your destination without needing to combine them into a single outing.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Neubeuern is accessible on the BRB Chiemgau-Inntal line via the Rosenheim or Raubling railway stations. Bus connections are provided by routes 9490 and 9572. If you are arriving by car, free parking is available at the P1 municipal car park next to the town hall. The address is Schlossstraße 4; the car park is about 200 metres from the historic market square.
