Calvary Hill in Palling and its history

Calvary Hill in Palling lies above the western edge of the town. Palling residents helped with its construction, including Franz Grafetstätter, son of the Heher farmer; Calvary Hill was inaugurated in 1888. An expert report by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Protection in 1982 described it as a historic monument of local historical, contemporary historical, artistic and landscape-defining significance. Its history thus combines a specific year and the involvement of local residents with a later assessment that takes several aspects of the structure into account. Forest Adventure Trail through the municipality

The Tittmoning–Meggenthal Forest Adventure Trail offers a different focus. Late Gothic and Baroque architecture in Harpfetsham

At the Harpfetsham monastery estate, just over a kilometre southeast of Palling in the direction of Taching am See, several architectural styles come together. Beside the Late Gothic chapel dating from 1476 stands the Baroque Kooperatorstöckl. Residential buildings and a timber-framed barn complete the courtyard of the monastery estate. These different architectural styles give the locality a historical character distinct from that of Calvary Hill: here, a dated chapel, a Baroque building and other parts of the courtyard stand side by side. The wider setting: Traunstein
