A particularly notable testimony is the large Lenten cloth in Oberwarngau. It measures 435 × 280 cm and is used in St. John the Baptist for its original liturgical purpose. Its function as a pilgrimage church has been documented since the end of the 17th century; between 1739 and 1754, the church acquired its final Baroque form. Every year on the fourth Sunday in October, the Warngau Leonhardi pilgrimage takes place. The programme includes a church service as well as the blessing of the teams of horses and riders. Another historical stop is the Nüchternbrunn pilgrimage chapel, which lies idyllically in the forest and originated around 1710 from a wooden hermitage.
