At the Waldaschaff water discovery trail, there is a water pump and small pools where you can dam the water. Kauppensee and the Aschaff also invite you to experiment with water. The Spessart 1, Spessart 2 and Kurfürstenweg quality hiking trails run through the deciduous forest near Waldaschaff. Keep this specific notice in mind if you are considering including the cultural trail in your plans.

Wahlmich and the Trift dam: local history

The “Wahlmich” archaeological site, also known as Weilerburg, was probably built in the 13th century. The Waldaschaff cultural trail leads to a stop at Burg Wahlmich, linking local history with hiking in its route description, although the trail is currently reported as impassable.

Another historical point of interest lies in the Autenbach valley: the Trift dam was built between 1733 and 1750 by the forestry administration of the Electorate of Mainz. Together with the presumed medieval date of Wahlmich, the dam offers a different perspective on Waldaschaff’s history.
