Hösbach: Forest Trails, Culture and Discoveries

The nature trail starts at the Froschmaul fountain and runs for about three kilometres through the municipal forest. It is estimated to take around 30 minutes to complete. The route combines a manageable time commitment with a walk through the forest. In Rottenberg, a circular route of about 45 minutes takes you through orchards and past fields. Alongside the forest trails, this offers a focus on a landscape of fruit trees and agricultural land. The walking and cycling path from Hösbach to Wenighösbach is also useful for certain outings: it runs parallel to the road and is particularly suitable for trips with a stroller or inline skates. The “Hösbach Cultural Sights” offer an insight into the cultural landscape of the lower Aschaff Valley. One historic site is in the district of Schmerlenbach: the late Baroque pilgrimage church, built in 1758/59 under Abbess Engelberta von Rodenhausen. The church’s oldest work of art is considered to be a Pietà dating from around 1380 and measuring about 30 centimetres in height. The combination of the building’s history and a single, datable work of art offers a tangible way to explore local history.
