It includes the Mediterranean Garden (monastery garden), the Celtic Grove (Brügel) and the Sorbus-Rosenwald by the Franconian Saale.
The “Culture at Every Step” cultural hiking trail passes through Bad Königshofen, Merkershausen and Annabild before returning to its starting point; it is about 12 kilometers long. For a longer cycling route, a trail runs along the former railway line from Bad Königshofen via Bad Neustadt to Bischofsheim. It is about 54 kilometers long. Schranne and border history
The Schranne is a grain store built in 1693. In 1988, the Archaeological Museum opened in the building as a branch of the State Archaeological Collection in Munich. After extensive renovations to the building and exhibition, it reopened on May 14, 2019. The Schranne also houses the Stone Age Workshop of the Bad Königshofen Museum Education Center. It is aimed particularly at school classes and groups, and offers insights into the lives and craft techniques of prehistoric people.
The Museum for Border Crossers is located in the former Salt House, a part of the Schranne building. Across two floors, it explores life on and with the border in the Grabfeld. The exhibition covers the period before 1945, when close neighborly ties and a shared dialect and economic area characterized the region, as well as the years from 1945 to 1989, when crossing the border was often life-threatening. The remains of the fortification walls and town gates in Bad Königshofen are also worth a visit.
Healing waters and sauna culture
The pools at FrankenTherme are fed by the officially recognized Regiusquelle and Urbaniquelle healing springs. The natural healing-water lake combines genuine healing water with biological purification. FrankenTherme’s Finnish-Franconian Sauna Village includes seven themed saunas with temperatures ranging from 55 °C to 95 °C. Together, these facilities offer a range of experiences centered on water and warmth.
