Circular hiking trails through various districts, cross-country ski trails in winter and a model of the former Wagegg castle complex give Haldenwang a varied profile. The trails offer several time options for an active day; historical sights and the natural swimming pool offer different focal points. You can tailor your stay to whether you would rather hike, get out in the snow or discover history.

Circular Trails with Different Time Options

For a longer circuit, the Haldenwang–Koneberg–Pfaffenhofen–Steig–Haldenwang circular hike covers 7.8 kilometres; the stated walking time is two hours. Another circular hike runs from Haldenwang via Steig, Berg and Börwang and back to Haldenwang. It is 7.2 kilometres long, with a stated walking time of one hour and 45 minutes. The two routes therefore offer a specific choice between different distances and stated walking times.

Several circuits also start in Börwang: the route via Fleschützen, Wagegg and Haslach and back to Börwang is 6.9 kilometres long; its stated walking time is also one hour and 45 minutes. The circular hike via Neuburg, Staudach, Woldang and Vocken and back to Börwang covers 8.8 kilometres and takes two hours and 15 minutes. A shorter option is described as the Börwang hiking trail, at 1.5 kilometres with a walking time of 45 minutes. The time estimates help you compare the routes; trail conditions may vary.

In Winter on Classic and Groomed Trails

In winter, the municipality of Haldenwang offers three cross-country ski trails of varying difficulty. They are groomed for both the classic style and skating technique. The trails therefore differ not only in difficulty, but also let you choose between two cross-country skiing techniques. Actual snow conditions may vary.

A distinctive landmark in the municipality is the Kronholz “hiking paradise”: Haldenwang’s highest point is located there, at an elevation of 916 metres. The Börwang hiking trail runs along the Börwanger Steige on the hilltop. Its length of 1.5 kilometres and stated walking time of 45 minutes provide a specific guide for this shorter hiking option.

Wagegg and Sights Along the Hiking Trail Network

At the Börwang local history museum, a faithful model of the former castle complex with its palace illustrates the history of Wagegg. It makes the former complex a focus of a visit to the local history museum. The parish church of St. Theodor and Alexander in Haldenwang is also one of the sights along the local hiking trail network. In Börwang, St. Leonhard’s Chapel is listed as another sight along the municipality’s hiking trail network.

The Natural Swimming Pool Nearby

The Haldenwang natural swimming pool lies between Haldenwang and Börwang, making it close to the destination. It has a large swimming pool, two pools for non-swimmers, a heated pool for babies and children, and two diving boards. The facilities also include an extensive sunbathing lawn, a play area and a sandpit. The swimming pools, sunbathing area and play facilities can thus all be considered as different aspects of a day at the pool.

The annual swimming season is scheduled to run from mid-May to early September, with daily opening hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Check the operator’s current notices before your visit. This is especially helpful if you want to include a day at the pool as a fixed part of your stay.
