Cross-country ski trails with different route profiles
The 2.0-kilometre Wolkenberg trail is of moderate difficulty. It serves as a connecting trail from the B12 bridge to the Kempter Wald trail. The connection between the Wolkenberg trail and the Moos trail is also 2.0 kilometres long and of moderate difficulty; this section includes a gentle ascent.
The Moos trail offers a different option: it is 10 kilometres long, rated easy and runs from the Wildpoldsried sports ground via Bogenried to Betzigau/Weiher. This means you can choose between a short, moderately difficult route, a moderately difficult connection with a gentle ascent, and a longer, easy trail. The route details are a guide; trail grooming may vary.

Walking paths along the Leubas
Together with the municipality of Wildpoldsried, a winter walking trail and an energy-themed walking trail are groomed along the Leubas. Each is approximately 10 kilometres long and intended for walkers, with or without dogs. The paths offer another way to experience the area on foot instead of spending the day on a cross-country ski trail. Their approximate lengths make the two options easy to compare; grooming is seasonal.
Notzenweiher and art by the stream
The reed-fringed swimming pond Notzenweiher is the Betzigau locals’ “home pond”. It gives the village a distinctive connection to the water; the stream running through the municipality provides another. Since 2004, artists have presented their works there to a wide audience as part of KUNST AM BACH.
Nearby is Völk Chapel, above Bachtel, on the footpath from Betzigau via Heinzelberg to Stein. In 1997, two brothers, Roman and Manfred, carried out extensive renovations to the chapel. May devotions are held there; if you are planning a specific visit for one, check the current practice in advance.
The wider Oberallgäu travel region
Betzigau lies in the Allgäu foothills, within the wider Oberallgäu travel region: a hilly landscape with a rural character, wide meadows, forests, streams and small hidden lakes such as Notzenweiher.
Other places in the Oberallgäu offer different points of interest for planning your trip. Oberstdorf has 200 kilometres of hiking trails and nature trails. You can also visit the Heini-Klopfer ski flying hill there; the tower lift takes visitors to the observation platform on the ski jump tower.
