To the north and west, Oberasbach borders Zirndorf, partly along the Bibert. To the east, the Rednitz largely forms the boundary with the urban areas of Fürth and Nuremberg.
The Kreuzbach flows through the Hainberg in Oberasbach and forms a pear-shaped pond there. The stream is also called the Asbach and lies entirely within the municipal area of Oberasbach.
The upper course of the Asbach was extensively straightened and channelled for agriculture in the second half of the 19th century. Moderate renaturation measures followed from 1990 onward.
