Activities at the sports center and go-kart track
Ampfing’s sports and leisure center offers opportunities for soccer, tennis, roller hockey, swimming, beach volleyball, horse riding and gliding. The range of activities gives you several options for active days without having to follow a set schedule. If you would rather focus on a single sport, Ampfing also has a modern outdoor go-kart track with floodlights. Please check whether the track is currently operating before visiting.
The activity park at the sports and leisure center includes a fitness course with seven stations, a mini trampoline, a spinning platform and a bouldering wall. The facilities bring different forms of exercise together in one place. You can focus on the course, climbing or individual activity features, depending on your interests.
Water, play and winter days at the Grüne Lagune
The Grüne Lagune covers almost 40,000 square meters. It includes a 5,000-square-meter swimming pond and a 1,500-square-meter regeneration pond. The water area is divided into a bathing area and a shallow-water area designed to feel close to nature. Sports and sunbathing areas, a beach volleyball court and a Kneipp pool round out the facilities; children can enjoy wet and dry playgrounds.
The grounds at Hinmühler Weg 27 also contain a leisure area with table tennis tables, a slackline, beach volleyball courts, a Multi Battle obstacle course and an OCR Ninja training obstacle course. When freezing weather lasts, the Grüne Lagune is used for Bavarian curling and ice skating. This is a clear seasonal distinction: the water and leisure facilities define summer, while these winter activities depend on sustained freezing temperatures. A footbridge over the Isen provides a short connection between the Grüne Lagune and the town for pedestrians and cyclists.
Chapel and industrial monument
Wimpasing Branch Church is also known as Schweppermann Chapel. Its ceiling fresco depicts a scene from the 1322 Battle of Mühldorf. The fresco connects the church interior with a specific historical event, adding a cultural dimension to Ampfing’s sports and water attractions.
The Ampfing industrial monument also tells the story of technological approaches to energy production. Four exhibits illustrate different themes: a pump jack represents oil production, alongside a photovoltaic system, a mobile steam engine and a wind turbine used to produce drinking water. The selection ranges from extracting a raw material to equipment that harnesses energy or water.
A distinctive cultural and natural highlight in Mühldorf Am Inn
The wider destination of Mühldorf Am Inn offers an additional mix of urban culture and nature. The 500-meter-long town square is lined with colorful facades in the Inn-Salzach architectural style. Haberkasten and Kornkasten, two grain-storage buildings constructed in the 15th century, frame an inner courtyard; Haberkasten was later converted into a cultural center. Since 1999, the courtyard has hosted an annual summer festival during the first two weeks of July.
For a different perspective on history, the permanent exhibition “Daily Life, Armaments, Extermination” at the Mühldorf a. Inn History Center and Museum explores the district’s history during the Nazi era. The exhibition “Lifeline Inn” focuses on how people live with the river and how it is managed today. If you prefer to spend time outdoors, Mühldorf Am Inn has the Innaue nature trail: this circular educational walking trail connects the town with the local recreation area south of the Inn and has eleven interactive stations. It is suitable for strollers and families.
