The Hurlach concentration camp cemetery and its history

The Hurlach concentration camp cemetery is located within the municipality of Hurlach, between Kaufering and Hurlach and west of Federal Highway 17 between Landsberg and Augsburg. It was established over a mass grave containing victims of Camp IV in the Landsberg/Kaufering concentration camp subcamp complex. At least 360 unidentified victims of Camp IV are buried in the cemetery.

A low, solid wall surrounds the cemetery; two Stars of David are set into the iron gate. These visible features give the site a distinct memorial character, while its history focuses attention on the victims of the camp complex.
