The stucco ceiling in the Church of Our Lady in Dormitz was created by Johann Jakob Vogel, a Bamberg court stuccoist. The same church houses an Anna Selbdritt (Saint Anne with the Virgin Mary and Christ Child) carved from limewood, which experts attribute to Tilman Riemenschneider as his own work. The two works differ both in material and in how they are attributed: Vogel created the stucco ceiling, while the wooden sculpture is attributed to Riemenschneider by experts. The ceiling and sculpture thus offer two distinct focal points for exploring church art in Dormitz.
