In 1555, after the Peasants’ War, Joachim von Rosenau had Ahorn Castle built in the Renaissance style on the remains of an older castle. The building therefore reflects two historical layers: the earlier castle complex and the 16th-century Renaissance structure. Ahorn’s natural landscape is shaped by rolling hills and far-reaching views. Opened in autumn 2013, the municipal hiking network includes more than 40 km of newly signposted hiking trails and three circular routes.
