Churches and History in Schnaitsee

The church tower in Schnaitsee, with its distinctive double onion dome, has long been regarded as the town’s landmark. Beside it, the tower of St. Elisabeth Church, with its pointed shape, creates a different accent. The small branch church of St. Elisabeth stands to the southwest, near the parish church. It was built in 1495 as a foundation of the Elisabeth Brotherhood. A trip to nearby Kling leads to the sparse remains of a large castle, which can still be visited there. From 1248, the castle was the seat of the largest administrative court in Bavaria.
